I’m Alison.
So far in my time in Uganda, I’ve managed to avoid eating fish eyes, a local treat, but otherwise, I love living in this culture.
As a physiotherapist at Kiwoko Hospital, in the Ugandan bush, I work with Ugandan staff, treating a huge variety of ailments, everything from broken legs to severe burns, malnutrition, malaria and tetanus.
We also run a club each month for HIV+ kids, where we have games, Bible stories, crafts and discussions with up to 75 kids each month. It’s such a special time.
Outside of my official work I love to hang out with our nursing and lab students.
I’m excited to work at such a special hospital where God is working — prayer and worship are at the heart of the hospital’s work and community life.
My faith is encouraged by the stories I hear from patients and colleagues of God’s provision and protection.
When I have time, I enjoy going into the city of Kampala, which is about two hours away, for a meal and shopping.
