Visiting CMS last week, the Rev David Green (left) came across Hugh de Saram (right) who works with the ICT Team at CMS.
There were lots of reminiscences. When David approached CMS many years ago about missionary work he was interviewed by Brian de Saram, Hugh’s father who worked in Sudan for many years and Hugh lived his early years there.
When Brian de Saram returned to the UK he joined CMS staff, first as Candidates Secretary and then Africa Secretary. David Green was duly selected by CMS and worked in Kenya for many years.
Now he is about to return there as a member of CMS Salt following an invitation from the Bishop of Ryahururu to begin a ministry of healing, pastoral care and reconciliation. It’s part of the Church of Kenya’s response to the civil disruption in the country following the disputed 2007 elections.
Hugh comments: “David was clearly bitten by the East Africa bug very early on and has been back again and again. This latest venture is simply one more in a long line. Tremendous commitment.”
